A Day Of Mixed Emotions

CBS4 canceled on me for their segment on podcasting. After all I did to make my schedule work for them and then they pull this. I guess I know one more reason that I’m a Channel 7 New Guy!

Then I get home and Laura tells me the bad news.

A segment of an e-mail from my Dad:

George Carlin once said that “life is a series of dogs”. The end of their lives is tough on the owners, but all the time they are alive they will do anything to please you, so enjoy their companionship and pat them often. If only people could have such a mindset as a dog……

They had to have their dog Leddy put down this morning. We got Leddy when I was in High School so I’ve known him and had many good times with him.

It hit me like a ton of bricks but I was ok with it after talking about it with my dad. But, then I had to tell the kids. They took it ok.

Later I was sitting on the floor giving Roxie a bunch of extra love. That’s when Dylan came over and sat down and got all serious while he told Roxie what had happened. Then he just sat there looking at Roxie and he finally looks up at me and goes “Daddy I think Roxie misses Leddy…..”

That one ripped the heart out. The simplicity of a child.

I told the kids when they asked if Leddy got to meet God now that I’m sure they were playing fetch with frisbees.
