Batman Begins & Yummy Steak

So yesterday ended great. I bought some really nice porterhouse steaks and some large shrimp. Plopped those puppies in a nice margarita and fajita dust marinade and the steaks with a bit of olive oil and pepper. Add to that some fresh corn on the cob and it made for a hell of a good summer dinner. Oh, and did I mention I found some amazing whoopee pies to finish it all off with?

In the heat of Fathers Day fun I totally forgot to mention that I went and checked out Batman Begins on Friday.

It’s nice to see that Hollywood sometimes gets a comic book movie right. They don’t always, but damn did they nail it with this one. Just the right mix of humor and darkness. Batman was always a cool superhero because he didn’t have any super powers. He was just a guy with a grudge and he got the shit kicked out of him a lot of the time and it showed. I liked that.

Definitely one of the best comic book movies out there. Nothing earth shattering, but I really enjoyed it. I’m also not a huge fan of movies blatantly setting up for sequels, but I liked how they did it in this one. I actually cheered when they did it because it was subtle and in your face all at the same time!

And I hate to bring it up because she’s getting enough press right now, but Katie Holmes has always been a cute little number and she still is. I’m still waiting for the day when someone lets her actually act in a movie. She seems to always be on the side in a little role. I’m not sure if she can act or not, but I think it’s there. I’m just waiting to see.
