Clerks 2

Just got back from seeing Clerks 2.

If you are not aware, I’m a HUGE Kevin Smith fan. Hell, I even did a whole episode of Managing the Gray about him today because he was on my mind.

Clerks 2

I’ve got mixed feelings about the film. Part of me felt that it was trying to hard. The shaky camera for no reason. The forced dialogue. I don’t know. Something bugged me.

Then on the flipside I loved it. I was cracking up laughing at the Silent of the Lambs tribute that I think I was the only person in the theater who got it. And the whole “trilogy fight” was priceless for the little bit of geek in all of us.

I’m looking forward to the DVD for the missing scenes and outtakes. There was a storyboard in the making of video diaries that did not appear in the film and I was waiting for it the whole time. It was a pretty major event it hinted at so I’m confused. Who knows.

If you are a Kevin Smith fan you are going to enjoy this film. I’m not sure if this film can stand on it’s own though. I think it might be able to. The themes of friendship and the definition of success play very heavily through the whole thing.

Plus, I’m never going to be able to hear the song “ABC” from the Jackson 5 ever again without giggling just a little bit.
