Getting Back to Life
Now that I’ve gotten some sleep, dug my way through most of the e-mail and basically gotten back to the real world I figured it was time to post some thoughts and reflections.
The trip was simply amazing. It wasn’t what I thought it would be, but it was something I’m going to remember for a long time. Being able to do it with my Dad is certainly the most important part. Some people don’t have that relationship or their parents are too old. I’ve got the best of both worlds and honestly I can’t think of someone I would have rather done it with.
We chilled a LOT. At one point I looked at my Dad and just said “We idle really well!” It became a running theme for the week as we’d spend hours just sitting, taking in the silence, the lapping of the water and the loons. Peaceful does not begin to explain it.
We’ve had this trip planned for a long time and in the reality of things it came at a bad time. There are some huge things happening in my world right now. A week unjacked from the Matrix right now wasn’t at a good time, but who cares. It was worth it. Sure, my “to do” list is miles long and is growing every couple of minutes.
Because of changes, enhancements and good things I might not respond as quickly to e-mails over the next couple of weeks. My cell phone will be ringing like crazy and I won’t be far from a computer at any given time. Sleep could easily become even less. But, it’s all worth it. No doubt about that.
It’s been fun going through all the Blog posts and news of the web that happened while I was gone. I’m sure I missed a bunch, but I seem to be caught up on most of the drama. Thankfully it doesn’t seem like there was a lot of it. I might never catch up on all the podcasts I missed. They downloaded over the last 24 hours and it’s scary how many I have to listen to. I’ll hit my must listen list but I know playing catch up is going to be “fun” and it might mean skipping some shows.
Hope everyone is well and staying at least a bit cool. I heard I missed a HOT week here in Boston. I sure don’t mind missing that! *grin*
