Dylan’s First Photo on the XTi

As I said the new camera is in and the kids were instantly told “you do NOT touch this camera of daddy’s.”

Dylan loves taking photos thought and he is going to get a new digital one for christmas. I want to fuel his creativity as much as possible and hell he took this picture. He’s got a good eye on framing shots so how can I not get him another camera since his first one broke.

Cranking the new Evanescence disc right now. Amy Lee’s voice never gets old. Damn skippy. I think I’m scaring Roxie though. *grin*

This weekend I’m hoping to get out and do some just walking around with the camera. The leaves are turning and I want to get some shots. Why else would I have gotten a sweet telephoto lense as well as a big old wide angle? *grin* Yes I spent more on lenses then I did on the camera. And I made the right decision.

OnTour.net says they’re (Evanescence) at the Avalon on Saturday night. Now if there were only a way for more podsafe artists to get registered with that service!

Dude, I preorded that CD a couple weeks ago. I hope it is downloaded when I get home so I can check it out.

Yes you did! That’s the way to go :)

Dylan definitely does have a eye. It’s nice to see someone so young taking an interest in photography.

As for spending more on lenses, that is always the way, even when you buy a very expensive body :( Looks like I may be getting the Nikon D80 soon, will be fun to compare it to your Rebel.

C.C.! After reading this, I started jonesin’ for “Bring Me To Life” and immediately bought it from the iTMS. Gotta find some podsafe artists with that sound, or somehow persuade them to get on board.

Evanescence? CC, I’m disappointed. Makes me want to throw my Avril Lavigne album at you.

Absolutely NOTHING wrong with Evanescense so chill the fuck out. The closest Podsafe band I’ve found is iscintilla who are amazing as well.

  9. Dave LaMorte says:

    Evanescense… hmmm.

  10. Dan J says:

I searched the PMN for artists who have Evanescence as one of their influences, and I found one that has that “Summertime Speedtrap”-type sound: canto6

Their song “Wait” is my current favorite.

Well, actually… I’m kind of let down by their second album (Evanescence). The first album had a lot of production value, but the second one, having listened to it most of today, feels REALLY overproduced. Maybe it’s just me, or maybe I’ve been listening to too much acoustic and raw stuff lately. Amy Lee’s voice is still fantastic, which is why I wish whoever was in charge of post over there at Windup would just let her sing without all the studio tricks. I’ve seen the DVD of the live tour and she can sing just fine without the gimmicks.

Of the new tracks, Lithium comes the closest to what I really liked about their debut album’s sound.

i:scintilla is the closest Podsafe in terms of musical match, but I have to say, Munk’s acoustic “I Am” is the closest in terms of emotional rawness. I never get tired of that track.

And hey, I liked Avril Lavigne when she first debuted. I liked Michelle Branch better.
