Day 1 of London
Great day in London. All kinds of photos on my Flickr page.
I couldn’t fall asleep last night which sucked. It might have been midnight here and I was wiped, but the old body didn’t want to go to sleep.
We walked over to the Tower of London and had some pastries and coffee outside while we waited for it to open. Very much like Seattle here in that it’s constant gray and rains every so often. I’m sure it’s not like this all the time, but today it was.
We had a blast walking around. All the history, the buildings and the sites was amazing. I’m very glad we went there. Simply amazing to look at all the armor and weapons. Wished there had been more swords to drool over but it’s all good.
Then we grabbed a water taxi and headed up the Thames to check out the other location on my must see list and that was the new Globe Theatre. It didn’t disappoint.
We got lunch first though. I refused to go to some place that sold only pasta and pizza. Come on! We are in London. We had to walk a ways but found a pub and promptly ordered two fish and chips and beer. THAT is what you have for your first lunch in London as far as I am concerned.
We took the tour at the Globe which was fun. While we were inside the theater a group of kids got up on stage and performed a scene from Romeo and Juliet. They couldn’t have been more then 8 or 9 years old. I’m still smiling thinking about it.
We missed the Water Taxi back so we had some time to chill and hit a coffee house (skipped the Starbucks thank you very much) and really zoned out over some cookies and drinks.
Back at the hotel now relaxing a bit before we hit Jazzfly and see Jimmy Golding perform. I can’t wait to see everyone and introduce Laura to them.
Now that we hit the two places we really wanted to see while we were here Sunday we are going to play it 100% by ear. Can’t wait!
