PodcastCon UK 2006 = A GREAT Time

I’m back at the hotel after another great day in London. Today was PodcastCon UK!
Sure, I didn’t see any sights, but I took this totally whacky picture of Ewan Spence and Adam Curry hugging. For some reason when I looked at the photo I giggled and wondered “damn is Adam reaching up under his kilt?” Of course he’s not but think about it and look at the photo.

Is Adam Reaching Under his Kilt?

But, what a time we had. Almost 200 people in attendance, 3 amazing music performances and a bunch of new friends finally in a face-to-face situation.

What is amazing the the even stronger diversity of podcasters here in the UK. Sure, it’s many of the same topics, but it’s something about the approach or the attitude. I’m not sure what it is, but I like it and I like it a lot.

I got scolded for calling it a “small” conference and was told that the preferred term is “boutique.” Whatever you want to call it, it was just the right size. Everyone interacted with everyone. You could get a moment to just talk to people. That is where the power is. With the community and I’m so psyched that I had the opportunity to get over here. WELL worth it!

Tomorrow we are going to play tourist again. I sure hope the weather is like it was today. Absolutely perfect and we were inside the whole time!

I’ve tagged all my pictures from today on Flickr so that you can easily find them.

It was great to finally get to spend some time with you and the lovely Laura. YOu guys definitely have to come back next year.

Please tell Laura ’sorry’ one more time. Hopefully she’ll forgive me eventually.

Great to have met you CC, thanks a bunch for coming and taking part at the conference - you make me laugh a lot, particularly after Brad whatisname’s comments.

You’ve a wonderful sense of humour, and a very British attitude….but a TERRIBLE British accent ;-)

    Listen out for the podcasts.

I’m loving the photo’s btw - especially the tourist ones. Being English you sometimes walk past some of the sites here in London without thinking about them and it’s nice to see them from a different perspective.

Laura was a real love too, bless her!

…and weren’t the bands just brilliant?!

So pleased you enjoyed your visit to these shores — the UK really enjoyed having you here. PCC was a totally wild day and to cap it all I got to meet you in the flesh, as it were. C.C. you’re a legend man.

[…] Adam Curry was there at the end which is a huge endorsement for British music podcasting. My colleague CC Chapman took arguably the best photo of the day featuring Adam and Euan Spence which would make for an excellent caption contest. […]

    Hey CC-
Glad your trip was great. I atteneded Podcamp west this weekend and it was a great time seeing and listening to the podcasters and videocasters. Also was good to drink some cold ones at Cafe De Nord next door. Great place to have a conference! If the current session is bad you head over to the bar. :)

Man that Adam Curry is a fricken poser.

    Have a safe trip home
