Hard Candy

Hard Candy

What happens when you have a 32 year old guy hitting on and taking home with him a 14 year old girl he met online? What if I told you that in this case it was the girl that was the predator?

I highly recommend this movie. I’m still thinking about it this morning after watching it late last night. Amazing debut film that I don’t think many people paid attention to. It also has one of the coolest posters ever. Again, simple, but jarring.

I keep hearing such good things about this movie, we’re going to have to Netflix it. Like you, I am totally in love with that poster — it does such a great job of really putting the story first (unlike other posters that celebrate the stars).

[…] And now the festive period is all over, I can get back to being online a lot, typing lots, and working lots… Plans for 2007 are looking good. But more on that over the next few days. But in the last breathe of the holidays, CC Chapman goes and recommends a fantastic film (Hard Candy). No massive CGI, just an amazing plot, perfect actors, and something to make you think. Not an easy watch, but one I’d recommend instantly. . […]

Which, of course, begs the question, “why is CC interested in movies about killer teenagers?” Could it be an underlying fear of one’s own children becoming teenagers? Only time will tell…

I know nothing about this movie. However… there is nothing that excuses a 32 year old of responsibility in such a situation. If the movie suggests that the 32 year old is a victim, in the slightest way, of anything other than himself, I’d have a problem with this film.

AWESOME movie. I saw this a few months back. Rented it on demand on cable. The wife thought it was creepy but I loved it. And the ending was amazing! Beware of teen girls reading medical journals!
