Shame on the cops too. There was a Foxboro officer mere feet away who refused to do anything.

It may also be the case that they can't release any information to the public until the police investigation is completed. I know the folks who run the system that manages Foxboro Stadium, and there's enough data in that system to probably tell you exactly what time the drunken friends bought their concessions and what brand of beer they drank.

I'd agree that the flaw was in the PR team's handling of it. Even just a "We can't comment until the police investigation is over" would have been enough.

I agree totally. It's not the Pats fault, but man I wish they were at least coming forward saying "this isn't how Pat's fans act and we are disappointed."

That one sentence would take care of it. It was their blowing off of it "as a police issue" that bugged me more then anything.

I can understand the organization's apprehension toward releasing the info straight to the family. No business would do that, as it would open up a can of worms and set a precident for future incidents. (I can imagine, "Hey some guy spilled beer on my jacket, I want him to pay the bill, gimme his phone number!" and so on.)

HOWEVER, if the Foxboro Police deem this incident as important enough - and in this case, my goodness, it absolutely is - and are willing to help this family, the police could ask the Patriots for their help, and I bet you'd see them cough up that credit card info, which would lead investigators straight to the guilty party(ies), and then you'd see some progress.

This is such a pointless accident, and some poor kid got caught in the middle of it. He does deserve an apology. But, honestly, what the f--- were the other fans around them doing? If more people had a little compassion, they'd have helped that kid and the family, and they would've booed that drunk out of the damn stadium.
