I’m a Whore?
Earlier today I was called a whore because I support the concept of influencer outreach. I support it when someone gives full disclosure and gives an honest opinion about the product if they want. I have NOTHING wrong with this and if that makes me a whore in some “people’s” eyes then so be it.
Rather then blogging I felt a video was in order.
Warning I use the word “whore” in this video and thus I flagged it as explicit because I don’t want a parent to be watching it front of their kids or a working watching it at work without fair warning.

I am opposed to all compensated, coached, or incentivized “opinion” masked as spontaneous, genuine, no-agenda comments about products, politicians, companies.
However, I have not looked into this specific situation, so right now I have no opinion.
But, friend, don’t let a fake North Korean vamp, who Brian Connolly is pretending to be, rattle your brain feathers!
Trolls have no content, no clients, and no creativity!

Trolls are often anonymous webless wonders who attack from shadows of craven obscurity and no real gusto or verve!

As I told Jaffe… “as you are someone who accepts the ‘bribe,’ fully participates in their program and advocates similar programs as a part of your business… I totally understand.”
Bottom line: this stuff will NEVER escape the taint of the perception of impropriety. I just won’t.

full disclosure removes any actual impropriety
“perception” of impropriety is bound up with trust
i trust c.c. - he gives it to you straight every time
one of the great things about new media versus old, is that we can actually know whose point of view we’re getting now, and that makes all the difference

Man… now I’m all pumped up.
As much as it’s annoying to talk about what is payola and what isn’t, I think the kind of thing Nikon is doing is really going to be a huge part of what advertising is going to be. Personal recommendation. Companies doing what they can to convince you, the media entity that it’s worthwhile talking about their product.
