Actually there is an interesting twist to this. If you don't have good enough credit, you can use your iPhone on a pre-pay as you go basis... and therefore don't have to commit to a CONTRACT. How screwed up is that?

From everything that was posted last night, there are a LOT of mixed reviews. It looks like a lot of people that already had AT&T accounts, especially business accounts that they switched over to personal (currently, you can't get an iPhone for use on a business account) had trouble connecting. A few unfortunate folks have iPhones that don't even start. It sounds like most folks who went in for a new phone and a brand new account were trouble-free.

The other thing I've been reading is that it sounds like customer service is overwhelmed with calls, and dealing with brand new issues, so at this point there's a general lack of experience.

Probably a good thing to wait at least a couple of weeks until these issues are worked out. And yes, I also am waiting for the holiday seasons's new-ipod announcements as well.

it's interesting how these AT&T activation issues have rendered a lot of iPhones useless. I'm like you CC, i'm waiting for more reviews. ;-)
