Having recently gone through a similar experience, I can empathize with the roller coaster of emotions that you must be experiencing. Hang in there, as it does get better with time.

In my mind, Crayon has always been synonymous with the CC Chapman brand. I would be unable to name a single person other than you who works with Crayon. You have been the public representative and opinion leader for the organization. Whatever factors led to your decision to leave, your former colleagues are fools for not trying harder to keep you. Perhaps they were greedy?

Best of luck with your free-lancing career, and with the next business that you start. (Really -- it is clear to anyone who listens to your podcast that you should be part of the management/founding team of a company, and that you would not be happy simply working for someone else.)

Good luck!

Congrats on making the big decision, CC, and hope the future brings you better and brighter things! It was great working with you while I was working at Millions of Us, but tides change, and I can certainly relate to that :)

However, it's still sad to see crayon lose both you and Steve. :(

Congrats CC and I hope you inspire others to follow their intuition too. Life really is sweeter when you're willing to take risks for your passions and I have no doubt that's one of the qualities that makes it obvious - even with the briefest of meetings - that you're one of the good guys. Glad we met and I'll be following your tweets wherever you go.

CC:

Congratz on taking the plunge, its never easy to leave the good you have to find the better you are destined for. It takes guts, and a hell of a lot of heart to make the leap into the unknown, no one I know has more of either.

Good luck man! Look out world CC 's coming

Damn you Chris Brogan! I was gonna be the first person to post a negative comment. I had it all planned. I was going to have him eventually living in a van, parked under the overpass, down by the river.

Oh well, I have some old Army blankets if you need them, C.C.

C.C., my friend, *many* congrats on making that decision! Several times in life I've made similar choices and while at first it sometimes seemed like I had leapt off a cliff, inevitably I found my wings and flew to even greater heights. I wish you all the best and I'm sure we'll run into each other in the world of social media - and also New England. Should you ever get up Vermont-way, please do drop a line. Best wishes!

CC- as I enter the autumn of my career as a network news cameraman, I'm fast approaching the time where I'll have to pull the trigger at NBC News. Traditional television is not at all a growth industry. That, combined with the tremendous opportunity to create strong brands online, will make that an equally bittersweet decision for me. I write this from the APEC US TV pool workspace in Sydney Australia, looking out at colleagues clinging to the few remaining television news "careers". Times are changing, and that's both scary and invigorating.

I guess the colour of choice at crayon llc will be "tear blue".

These decisions are tough, but I have no doubt there will be a crayon 2.0 where the lords of social media and marketing will gravitate towards each other again and give it a go.

See you in Canada soon?

Working with you on the Coke project has been a lot of fun. Can't wait to see what you do next. Remember, we'll be watching. Good luck with your book, and I hope we get a chance to work together again sometime.

Shocked and surprised. Obviously, you'll do well as a freelancer, but I don't doubt you will also see some attractive offers from others that want to work with you.

Hey CC, it's never easy knowing when to call it a day on one project and make the decision to move on. I'm glad you're going to have more time to finish writing that damned book you keep promising us! And I'm sure there's more than enough freelance work out there for a whole team of CCs happily and productively employed for many years to come.

Whatever the future holds I wish you all the best.

My fellow crayonista (as you will always be) - you know I'll miss working with you in a formal capacity, but I'm psyched that this is just the beginning of our association. You know how much I think of you and admire your work, which is what makes this an especially difficult process.

In the end, you need to be true to yourself and do what's best for you. I'm looking forward to our next adventure together, and especially to our next regular lunch.

cc!

Best of luck man, I've found its pretty much impossible to write a book with a full time job so this is probably a smart move.

Also I could use some help with a project I'm working on. I'll drop you an email next week about it.

CC – it is with a heavy heart that we part ways. I am both sad and happy. Sad for us but extremely happy for you.

You are at the end of the day, CC “****ing” Chapman and we will be your biggest fans as you go out and realize your promise and potential as a rising star and grounded futurist.

And of course, we too hope our paths will cross again and again and again.

Good luck Big Guy and talk soon!!!
