Mac OSX Leopard in the House

The FedEx guy just dropped off my copy of Leopard. Funny thing was he just sort of laughed and said “what are these little boxes? I’ve got a ton of them today.”
I laughed and told him to blame Steve Jobs and Apple.
Upgrade currently underway. First time doing this on a Mac so we’ll see if it is as easy and seamless as everyone says. Is it ever?

I really would have waited to do the upgrade. If the experiences of some of the people trying the latest developer builds are anything to go by, Leopard might not quite be ready for primetime.
Also, when going from one major point release to another, it is recommended not to do an upgrade but rather an “Archive and Install” as this removes any crud associated with the old OS version. It takes a little longer but is worth it.
Compared to Windows, major OS upgrades are a lot, lot less troublesome, but there are some gotchyas if you’re not careful.

Read your comments to late Neil, but the upgrade seems to have gone flawless. I did do a full back up before it though. I worked in IT way to long now to do that.

If it makes you feel any better, every time I’ve upgraded a Mac OS, it has gone flawlessly. I haven’t gotten to Leopard yet — sidelined by vacation in Ohio. (yuk) But, now you’ve got me restless — I’ll have to hit the apple store when we get back.

It was a breeze for me. And I’m loving Leopard!
