SeesMix & Mimobots
Ok, so I open up Seesmic this morning and this video was waiting for me. Wasn’t ready to see myself in it!
I still find it funny that a product like Mimobots, which I have known about for a couple of years is suddenly exploding all over the new media space. Fun to watch and I’m psyched for the company.
Everything is good and great. Can’t complain.
I just uploaded Managing the Gray #45 to the server. I’ll get to doing show notes and stuff soon, but for now that link will take you to it directly.
Speaking at Emerson last night was a blast. I would love to teach a class sometime. But, it seems no one wants a teacher who doesn’t have a Masters Degree. I’m a street knowledge sort of guy. I don’t need a piece of paper to tell me I’m smart. *grin*

I guess its an Idea whose time has come. The Video medium certainly makes it easier to express the visual qualities and feelings that a Mimobot can instil in its owners. I loved your contribution and thanks for creating your response to “Do you Mimo ?”

My friend teaches at Emerson part time in the theatre department. I don’t think she has a masters, but I can get more info from her if you’d like. From what I know of Emerson, I think you’d be a perfect fit for their faculty.

that was a fun episode to do… stoked its on your site!
and i think i should let you know that that same day i bought a mimobot for my 24 year-old brother for his birthday. after much indecision, i actually got the same happy tree friends army guy bc i thought it best suited him, but without the blood, that was a little much for me.
heres how i feel about mimobots - i really like the merging of art and technology. smart and refreshing - bring a little color to technology. i dont think theres enough of that and as a participant in both, its nice to see:) so go mimoco!

i am down with you on the out-dated-ness of academia in some respects. Over 20 years ago when I was the ripe age of 33 and had already written a 165 pp book on technical training for health and fitness, not to mention published several articles, not to mention owned and operated a successful exercise studio for 4 years, not to mention had set up health training programs in over 30 states, Canada, Japan, and Europe, the University of New Mexico would not give me one hour of credit for any of that to start a Masters program. They considered me exactly the same as a 22-year old fresh from 4 years of college.
I decided I had no place in that institution, and that I could continue teaching myself whatever I felt it important to learn. And the places that require an advanced degree to teach? Soooo last century to me, and one of the reasons schools are not at all keeping up with the job place.
This is especially (and sadly to me) evident in technology. I would think my straight A nieces at UMich would know more than me, but heh, they don’t know even know about half the internet tools we use every day.
Hey CC _ I just had an idea. Maybe we could teach an e-class inside Facebook, because that is where the intersection of college and the job is potentially taking place. Talk about social apps, how to use them at work, how to build your personal brand, yada yada. Interested?
