Apple Unleashes the iPhone

posted on January 9, 2007

Pardon me while I drool over my self. Check out Engadget’s coverage of the iPhone.

So far everything I’m seeing I’m loving. This COULD be the biggest step towards a “universal media device” since I see video, audio, phone and podcasting. That’s a lot to get excited about.

My only concern is that with a device such as this that is 100% dependent on a screen there is a reason to worry about scratches and wear and tear. How will it hold up over time, use and travel.

The Apple website has really nice walkthroughs of the big ticket items, like using the iPod features, the Phone, new Voice Mail, integration of Google Maps, how to watch movies and TV shows, the auto-rotation of the device between landscape and portrait…….

I’m just REALLY bummed it’s only available with Cingular service. That just seems like an incredibly shortsighted way of excluding many, MANY potential customers. I just don’t get it.

I love the features on this device, and I might even consider getting this thing to replace my old phone and iPod… but why is this only available with Cingular service? This seems like an incredibly shortsighted way of alienating MILLIONS of potential customers. I just don’t get it.

    Not to mention battery life!
I think I may wait a while (oh ya, I’m broke!).

Way too expensive (although most phones without contracts are) and the “Cingular” exclusive is a deal breaker. What I am way more interested in is the “Apple TV”.

I want one! They should cut the price by $200 though.

Great screening at Crayonville by the way
