Blog Tag – The BOOK Edition

posted on November 13, 2007

Sometimes I play these, sometimes I don’t. This morning Troy Rutter tagged me and since I am into books I figured why not.

The Protocol: Answer 5 questions. Tag 5 booklovers.

The Questions:
1) How many books do you own?
2) What was the last book you read?
3) What was the last book you purchased?
4) What five books are most meaningful to you?
5) What is your most obscure favorite book? Or, favorite most obscure book?

My Answers:

1. Hundreds. I’ve got boxes of them from the move that still need to be unpacked. We’ll be donating a bunch of them to the local library, but I’ll still have stacks of them.

2. David Maister’s True Professionalism

3. Paul Gillin’s The New Influencers

4. This is way to open of a question. Books that I know have made a big impact on me would include The Lord of the Rings, The Dip, Rebel Without a Crew, The Art of War and Oh The Places You’ll Go

5. Bones of the Moon was a story that I really liked and that I don’t think anyone else has ever read. I could be completely wrong though.

Of course then the tagging part comes into play where you tag other people who you would like to see their answers to the question.  I don’t know who to go with so lets go with Ariel Waldman, Julien Smith, Whitney Hoffman, Anji Bee and Clarence Smith.

    1) 894 – See http://www.librarything.com/catalog/speljamr

    2) The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, by Nikki Sixx

    3) I bought two: The E-Myth Revisited: ‘Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It’ and ‘Producing Open Source Software: How to Run a Successful Free Software Project’

    4) The Art of War, Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds, The Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov, The Dragon Riders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey, Dune by Frank Herbert

    5) The Time Ships by Stephen Baxter

By the way, if you have tons of books to give away you should put them on BookMooch(http://www.bookmooch.com). Local Libraries tend to throw out a lot of what gets donated to them if they can’t sell them, and very few of them actually make it to the shelves.

Thanks CC! One of the easiest and favorite blogtags ever. I tagged Brogan, Dave LaMorte, Megin Hatch, Vivian Vasquez, and Bill Rowland; I would also love to see Chris Penn’s bookshelf. Can’t wait to see Julien’s, and hopefully Mitch Joel, Mark Blevis and Andrea Ross will participate as well. In fact, I’mgoing back and tagging Mark & Andrea, regardless.
