CC — Totally agree! Our Website, Myxertones, lets content creators and independent artists create, share and sell their own ringtones… since many Twitizens get their Twitter updates on their phones, what a great way to deliver a FREE daily Indy Music ringtone! Great branding for us, great exposure for the artists, great fun for the all you Twits out there. FYI, as a Twitter fan, “TwitTones” was my contribution to a company-wide Myxer Mashup Challenge, where everyone in the company was challenged to embrace “Web 2.0″ and “Social Networking” and combine our Myxer Mobile content platform with another site/community. Great stuff resulted, all of which will be rolling out soon. Anyone who wants a free daily Indy Music Ringtone can Friend or Follow MyxerTones at Twitter!

I’m not a heavy Twitter user, but I would use it more if (1) more people, companies, and organizations adopted it AND (2) if the Twitter presentation could be improved and opened up a bit…
Now, the second item I can take care of myself using a tool like the personalized Google feed pages where I can populate areas of the page w/ separate feeds. I like following tweets but prefer them separated out into groups of contacts; for instance, I can’t follow the Sox games if those tweets are mixed in with all my other contacts – just too mixed up for my taste.
The first item, however, is something you’re trying to encourage, and you’re absolutely right. This may be the simplest form of Web 2.0 communication, and if you adopt it and the word gets out, you can guarantee you will get followed. Restaurant daily specials are a pretty good idea… Personally, I’d be in favor of real-time Traffic updates and an ESPN-like Bottom Line in Twitter form.
