Way back when CC I wrote a post slamming a bunch of Park Slope Daddy Bloggers for their annoying chatter about the best $800 strollers and organic baby food (which I totally bought for my daughter, but just never bragged about it) and since I blog I've been pushed and pushed to do something for the Dad's out there given my unique perspective on just about everything. With that said, this may be the first Dad post I read that was nice rather than self-serving and competitive. Thanks for giving me a little faith in the Daddy Blogging community. Maybe we should team up on a Dad Blog together. muuuaaaahahaaaahaha

I think simply being someplace different with the family can be re-energizing. It's not even about what we do- and clearly that's true for you if you hang out at the south portland mall :) It's just nice to shake up the routine sometimes. Glad you had fun.

these little weekends away and unplugged are the greatest. We do them every so often, usually in DC or NY (both pretty close for us) and it gets us out of the usual orbit, and helps keep us exploring as a family. You always learn a bit about your kids as they discover new things, explore and have new experiences, and I look at it as part of my job raising inquisitive kids. I do have a side motive of sharing my interests and raising kids who like to travel so we can do that more all together, but there's no rule I can't love it, too.
