Iron Man Movie

Growing up I read a lot of comics and Iron Man was always one of my favorites. I think that is why I love this newest trailer so much for the movie. Dylan and I already have plans to see it.

I’m with you CC - I read Iron Man religiously as a child and I’m excited about seeing this as well. Although I wish it were someone besides Robert Downey JR. as Tony Stark - maybe someone like David Hasselhoff… :)

    I’m digging the sound track!

I never really got into comic books growing up.. In my arts background they seem to have a symbolic relationship to the cliche.. I mean in people’s minds, those whom probably never read theme ether.. you know.. those cliches that surround the “comic book bad guy.” It’s a story we’ve heard / seen so many times that it no longer has any resonance for us.. But if you can summon it up inside your self.. to sorta see it in fresh eyes, you can find the meaning in the cliche.. so it sorta comes down to the film makers.. can they summon the meaning out of it.

This is to in no way denigrate comic books.. or to in anyway say that comic books are that way. I mean at best, comic books speak to something deep within us, and something to do with the human condition and modernity.. I mean there’s the possibility of real substantive stuff that our culture desperately needs..

I don’t know.. .when I watch trailers like this, this is what I think about. I think about how much more movies made from comics could be. I mean.. I’m happy to watch a pop corn movie.. and I can enjoy that.. even with my critical media consumption spirit.. I guess I just have such a low tolerance for the status quo…

Looks like there could be some very nice performances in it though.. and I can dig the special effects.. and much of the look… I mean it does look like it could be killer… and just the charisma of it..

Man, I’m not sure about the ACDC in the begging.. just feels a little over played to me today…

I’m such a grump curmudgeon today..
