There isn't a way to do this that I've seen Jason and unless they add a stylus to a future version it would never be as easy as a highlighter and paper today.

The biggest thing holding me back is that I highlight books like crazy. Can the Kindle do that? It seems someone told me that it could, but how user-friendly and extensive is the feature. I'm still waiting to get my hands on one to try it before I buy it.

I, too, looked at the Kindle with skepticism when it first came on the scene, but after hearing so many good things about it recently, I succumbed. (I rationalized that it was to figure out how fast the [free] EV-DO connection worked [almost instantaneously] and how I could read the books I've shelved away for years without sneezing at the yellowing, untouched pages....)

But it's the online experience, the ability to check my GMail and also check out a review of a book I heard about on NPR within the space of about three button-clicks. I also couldn't believe that there were hundreds of titles for under $1.00 USD!

Thanks to the Kindle, I'm really, truly reading again (and having serious second thoughts about all the bookshelves in the attic). That's nothing to sneeze about!

Damn you, Kindle, for claiming another victim! YOu are truly this book-nerd's arch nemesis, and I will curse your name every time I move apartments and am forced to haul my giant, crippling boxes of books to and fro in stubborn refusal to submit.

I love my Kindle and use it daily. One feature I wish it had is a backlight. I read in bed and it would be a nice feature. I got a Light Wedge paperback light yesterday that works great with the Kindle but it's a cludgy solution.

Yep, the Kindle supports Audible audio books purchased through Amazon. Those are the only purchase where you have to download it to your computer and drag it across the USB connection. You can put music on it, but it will only shuffle through it while you read. Honestly, the audio features seem a little tacked-on to me, and they don't make much sense unless you're also putting in the optional SD card for additional storage. However, for reading the Kindle is awesome.

The kindle has also intrigued me. I'm very tempted.

BTW, Rick Klau and I are from the same hometown - Acton, MA.

Hope all is well.
