A Road Less Traveled – Ashland State Park

posted on February 28, 2009

Before I really began using Flickr, I use to do these sort photo walks on my blog that I referred to as “roads less traveled” where I’d go for a walk and take photos of anything that caught my attention. I’d get home and upload them all to a set and talk about why I took each photo. It was fun and recently I had a friend bug me to do another one so I did.

All of these photos were taken at Ashland State Park. It was the first time Laura and I had been there and I can’t wait to go back this summer.

You’ve lived in Metrowest how long?

    :-)

Ashland is GREAT in the summer for swimming. You’ll also get awesome waterfall photos in the spring when the flowers bloom along the spillway. On the opposite shore you’ll find Northeastern University and their executive conference center.

Have you been up to Tipling Rock or Broadmoor?

    Wow, what beautiful pictures!

Here in central Florida we have a lot of “reserves” that are basically old ranches or farmland that has been abandoned and sold to the county and simply allowed to grow wild. You usually have to jump a fence or a gate to get in, but there’s a sign on each one indicating it’s a reserve area and open to foot or horse traffic. I’ve been to a few of them. That doesn’t include the official natural land areas set aside by the state or county for recreational use.

    Hi CC,
Been enjoying this blog and your other work for quite some time. So that is what the park looks like in winter. I have lived in Ashland for almost 8 years and have never ventured over there when it is cold. Great place in the summer with the kids. We also enjoy Hopkinton State Park.

liked your pictures , just so you know ashland state park will only be a walk in park this summer. the state cut the dcr’s budget. and there will be no lifeguards or personnel there this year. i know i was the supervisor thers for 3 years.
