I am from Kenya so this got into me. I am sorry. We should do better next year I have hope I believe. You will go just have hope. It is a lovely place. We were tarnished in the last elections but we are now done with the old guards they are too much. When you are ready to go hoola me I help with some “street’ Swahili-there is a difference.

Yes, it does have to do with the elections and some trials that are going to happen.

I completely understand the reason for this, but it still bums me out. But, I do know that I WILL make it to Africa now. No doubt about it.

All my research and conversations with other has made me fall in love with the country and I need to see it now.

I’m so sorry to hear about this, CC. My guess is that it’s related to the upcoming national elections. If early 2012 is anything like early 2007 — when there was violence and tribal killings in the fallout from the usual suspected vote-rigging — it wouldn’t be very safe.

But yes, keep the dream alive! I spent a very memorable three weeks in Kenya in 2005 (my wife and daughter are from the country, and most of my in-laws are there), and know you’d soak up all the beautiful sights and sounds. I’m confident that your time will come, man.
