Our world is full of conflict, suffering and problems that need our attention.
One that still gets me every time I think about it, is the problem of not enough clean, safe drinking water in the world.
That is why when I heard about the 40 Days of Water campaign it got my attention. Blood:Water Mission, the organization behind this challenge, is a grassroots organization that empowers communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa.
While I won’t be participating myself, I did want to shine a light on this campaign and the work they are doing.
The challenge starts tomorrow and on the surface it is a simple one.
Participants agree to only drink water for forty days and take the money they would have spent on other drinks and donate it to the campaign. No venti lattes, glasses of wine or big gulps of soda. Just water for forty days.
Think about that for a minute.
For any of us it would be a huge challenge to do this and yet every morning women and children grab their water jugs and walk miles just to get a single drink of clean water. We have it easy.
Consider registering for the challenge, download the beautiful 40 Days Journal and help improve the world around you. If you can’t take part in the challenge, consider sharing it with others as I have so that as many people as possible will become aware of it.
