Instead of writing today, I decided to power up the microphone and hit record.

I’m doing my best to remain #BostonStrong and I encourage everyone to do the same today.

A friend recently looked me in the eyes and rather firmly reminded me, “You can’t save the world if you starve yourself.”

She knew everything I’ve been working on has been helping and inspiring others, but she also knew that it wasn’t bringing in much money and that I had to never lose sight of taking care of myself.

It may have been a single sentence over a drink in a Las Vegas casino, but it has stuck with me ever since.

Fast forward to to SXSW and Dave Grohl takes the stage to give the opening keynote for SXSW Music.

Nirvana is a vital part of my music DNA and the Foo Fighters blare out of my speakers on a regular basis. So of course I tuned in for the live stream of his talk.

What do these two things have to do with one another?

They both focused on the fact that you are in control of your life and you can never lose focus of what is important to you.

Dave’s talk was so inspiring that I recorded an episode of Managing the Gray to share my thoughts with you. Give it a listen.

Tomorrow I head out to speak at my first Blissdom. To say I’m excited would be an understatement. What I have planned to take part in there certainly involves some focusing on myself. Wish me luck.

Six Pixels of Separation has always been one of my favorite podcasts. Mitch Joel does a great job of covering the marketing industry and sitting down with some of the best and brightest minds working in the space.

While we were both in Columbus recently, we sat down to discuss my new book Amazing Things Will Happen.

I woke up this morning after far too short of a night. One of those where the mind won’t stop going and thus early to bed isn’t an option.

That being said, I woke up filled with purpose and direction today. I’ve been been able to successfully juggle the chainsaws that have been presented to me and I’m making good progress on a number of projects.

The new book is inching closer every day and I have a hard and fast deadline that no longer can be moved or missed without changing a lot of things so that is helping me focus.

There was also a need in my head this morning to record a new podcast and today it was on facing challenges.

Next week I’m going to be away the entire time and while what I’ll be doing is exciting, I’m not a fan of being away from the family for that long. Looking at my schedule this month, there is quite a bit of travel in it. Just that time of year I guess.

June 1, 2012 is here. A new month on a Friday. Thirty days to leave our mark and do good in the world around us.

I may have woke up tired, but I also woke up filled with a desire to do more. Can’t fully explain it, but needed to share it.

Hope this feeling is contagious!

Only a few days left before I head to Ghana as part of the #ONECampaign and I’m starting to get excited/nervous. Listen to my thoughts.

As I mentioned in the audio update, I plan on sharing the whole experience while on the ground there. Of course there will be lots of updates after the fact as well, but I’m going to be liberally sharing across all my networks while there to capture as much of the journey as possible.
