On an “Adventure”

posted on February 19, 2007

As I told the kids when the first badness started “It’s ok guys. We are Chapmans which means we roll with it. This is just an adventure.”

Tonight as we sat on the bed eating way overpriced Pizza Hut, Emily piped up and said, “This is a pretty cool adventure. Time in New York AND Nashville. That’s cool.”

Leave it to a 5 1/2 year old to sum it up and make you realize that all the stress isn’t worth it in the grand scheme of things. We are together as a family. We’re healthy and have a roof over our heads. Not everyone is so lucky in the world and for that I am thankful. Just the fact that I can fly my family somewhere for a vacation is more then many can do. So as pissed and stressed I am, it’s not right to when I stop and think about it.

Tomorrow we are going to the airport WAY early to avoid any trouble on that angle. I’ve already determined that if something else goes wrong I’m going home to Boston and done with this. I sure hope that doesn’t happen since tomorrow night is the big Podsafe Music Live concert in Nashville. It’ll happen without me, but damn do I want to be there.

I’m going to stay positive. Hope you’ll keep the positive vibes flowing as well.

    Hey there,
Sorry that you guys are all going through hell and back!!! Kids always have the best persepctive in bad times such as these. As I was reading your blog it reminded me of being told stories of the night of the car accident when you and Dad sat in the doorway of the mens room and mom and I (in her belly) sat in the doorway of the womens room…I wonder if you had any comments along the same lines as Emily *grin* You WILL make it here tomorrow!!! Can’t wait to get the call from you that you have landed safely in Nashville, and to walk into Edge Hill Studios tomorrow night after work and get to hug each one of you!!!
CHIN UP, SHOULDERS BACK, AND HEAD HELD HIGH…it is the Chapman way after all *grin*

    Hi CC:
I’m sorry, but I’m not going to be able to make it tonight. I really want to meet you and your family, and to get down to some podsafe tunage.

Unfortunately, Sam (my son) still has Croup. I thought it would have passed by now, but we had a really rough night last night.

It’s a couple of hours to Nashville, plus a hotel. I don’t think the little guy is up to it.

I apologize. I guess we’ll have to wait until next time you’re in town, or when I’m in Boston.

Have a great time and safe trip.
    Dave

I forgot to say that Mark Blevis, Julien Smith and Mitch Joel all said for me to say hello to you.
