Last week began just like any other week for me. But, before it was done things sure had changed.

Monday after doing Digital Dads TV, I wasn’t feeling that well. Tuesday I spoke at Babson and was feeling much worse. I mentioned to a few people there just how bad I was feeling, but I tried to hide it as best I could. I don’t think you can see it too much in this video interview I did after speaking.

Tuesday night I was feeling horrible and could barely move without extreme pain. I tried not to do much and hoped it would just pass.

Wednesday when I woke up Laura checked me out and promptly said, “OK your coming to work with me and going to the emergency room.”

By the end of the day I was admitted to the hospital and had undergone emergency surgery for a strangulated umbilical hernia. The surgery went great and I’m now home healing for the next three to four weeks.

Of course sitting around and not doing much is very new for me and something I’m not into doing for too long. I missed giving a keynote at Bentley University last week and I should be in Minneapolis speaking at Confab right now. But, obviously I can’t fly and until yesterday could barely stand for more than a few minutes before needing to rest.

I don’t know what this means for the rest of the month, but I’m resting up and trying to get back to normal as fast as I can without rushing it.

Thank you to everyone for checking in and the positive messages. I’ve been off e-mail for almost a week and have doctor’s orders to take it easy so please give me some time to get back to you if you’ve been trying to reach out.

So sad to hear you were laid low, and so happy to see you’re on the mend. Keep in mind what’s important to you, not about you. Use this time to reflect on how you can improve who you think you are. You’ll come out of this stronger and better than you went into it.
    Your friend ,

CC…saw your “On the Mend” article while I was down in Atlanta on the iPhone but didn’t know what the surgery was until now and able to reach this page.  Glad you’re doing OK.  Sorry to hear that had happen.  Take it easy man, hope all is well.
