Where Do You Recharge?

Where Do You Recharge?

Some may not know it, but I'm a total outdoor guy. I love to backpack, go camping and anytime I get to put a paddle in the water I'm a happy man.

Because of this, I need to get outside and in nature on a regular basis to recharge. It is also why my house is surrounded by woods and why I don't think I could ever live in a city for any extended period of time. I need to have nature around me to balance out all my time I spend in front of a screen of one variety or another.

Yesterday, we put the canoe and kayak in the water for the first time. We usually would have done this a lot earlier, but my surprise surgery and recovery prevented us from doing this because there was no way Laura would be able to put the boats on top of our car by herself.

Just sitting there in my kayak and paddling around the lake allowed my head to clear. I thought about all the projects I currently have going on and the ones that I see on the horizon. I wasn't stressed, clicking on anything or wondering if I was missing anything. I didn't care about any of that. All I cared about was feeling the breeze and watching my family in a nearby canoe. Everything else was secondary.

Me and My Kayak

Nature recharges my batteries and always has. If I go too long without doing something in the woods or on the water I go a little nuts.

I'm curious what you do to recharge? Do you become a little "off" if you don't get to do this often enough?

I can't imagine I'm the only one that operates like this.
