Today is National Train Day

I'm writing this post as our Amtrak train rolls through the Connecticut country side.

Dylan is playing a game on the iPad and Laura is teaching Emily how to play solitaire. It is a difficult lesson as the cards like to slide a bit as we take corners. *grin*

I took the above photo as we left the station this morning to capture my view.

Today is the fifth annual National Train Day and there are celebrations and events happening around the country.

As you know, Amtrak is the exclusive 2012 sponsor of my show Passion Hit TV and when they invited me and the family to be their guest in New York City today I couldn't say no. Plus, this is the first time the kids will ever see the city so they've been excited for weeks. Look at all the fun stuff they have planned for today.

I love taking the train when I'm traveling. Especially when there are enough open seats that Dylan and I could watch The Darkest Hour (his choice and not bad) first thing this morning.

The privately owned train cars are what I'm most looking forward to seeing today. I've heard that the people who own them go above and beyond the simple when they deck them out and I'm curious to see them.

If you have no plans today, check out the listing of National Train Day events and see if something is happening near you and bring the whole family.

Disclosure - Amtrak and I have a business relationship. They are covering our travel expenses to take part in this fun filled day.
