Once Again, The Travel Begins

Once Again, The Travel Begins

Waiting in Line at the Airport I love to travel, but I hate to be away from my family.

Being on stage in front of an audience rocks my world, but I love cuddling on the couch with my wife just as much.

We've all heard about the two sides to every coin and that is where I find myself this morning as I get ready to hit the road again for a series of speaking engagements and book tour stops.

We call them "the travel blues" and they like to show up the day before I leave on a trip.

The excitement for where I'm going hasn't kicked in yet and the only thing I can think about is how much extra work Laura will have taking care of everything at home and that gets me down. The fact that she supports me in doing this is just another one of the millions of reasons I love her and I am the luckiest man in the world.

Over the next few weeks I'll find myself in Napa, Houston, Detroit, Washington D.C., Seattle, Austin, Dallas and L.A.

At every stop I'll see old friends, make new ones and tell everyone I meet about the work I want to do and how they can help me do it.

But, I also know it means security lines, delayed flights and living out luggage.

I'll look back and smile at the memories made and the opportunities that this travel makes happen, but right now I'm looking at my GORUCK on the floor and dreading having to pack it.

I love to travel, but my favorite destination is home.
